Dear Sixth Graders and Families,

Welcome to Groton Middle School! We are so excited to have you join our school community. We understand that transitioning from elementary to middle school can be exciting and intimidating, but please know that we are here to support you every step of the way.

At GMS, we have a fantastic team of teachers who work together to provide you with the best middle school experience possible. Our interdisciplinary approach means that your math, science, social studies, and language arts teachers collaborate to ensure you get a well-rounded education. We also offer a STEAM curriculum, which means you can explore and learn about science, technology, engineering, arts, and math in fun and creative ways.

But it's not just about academics at GMS. We also have a wide variety of after-school clubs and sports for you to get involved in. Whether you love art, music, sports, or something else, there is something for everyone. We encourage you to try new things and discover your passions outside the classroom.

We also want to remind you that your school counselor is here to support you in more ways than one. They are here to help you with your academic needs and support your social and emotional well-being. If you ever feel sad, anxious, or just need someone to talk to, your counselor is someone you can count on. Our sixth-grade counselors, Ms. Mucciarone and Ms. Fratus, are both amazing and will be more than happy to assist you.

I look forward to getting to know each of you and leading you through these next three years. Middle school may seem like a long time, but trust me, it will fly by before you know it. I advise you to enjoy every moment and remind yourself to SOAR - strive for success, overcome challenges, achieve your goals, and reach for the stars!
